Job Responsibilities:
Senior Engineer wanted in Novi, Michigan to coordinate the complete development for designated products, including designing, building, and testing activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process. Serve as a key customer interface, successfully negotiating and influencing engineering design direction for optimum feasibility and cost. Define and incorporate customer requirements and product specifications into the design of designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters and government regulations. Analyze products and formulate engineering conclusions by applying engineering and mathematical principles and tools, such as Quality Function Deployment, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Pugh Analysis, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly in product development. Write and compile engineering content for deliverables, including engineering specifications and documentation, DVP&R's, 8D's, GD&T, BOM, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes, and work orders. Consult and collaborate with personnel in various engineering and design activities related to product development requirements. Conduct effective communications within the project team and with the customer, supplier, manufacturing, and quality communities, with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel, while maintaining all appropriate documentation. Provide engineering direction and support to design personnel, review and approve engineering designs, and complete and submit required change notices to ensure design outputs meet design inputs. Independently prioritize the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance with program deliverables, contribute to the development of project timing, and set targets to manage the release of product deliverables per the Master Timing Plan. Maintain good housekeeping of the area and ensure adherence to company, departmental, and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative requirements. Support internal and external audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Certification, and support the requirements detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System). Ensure employees work in a manner consistent with the organization's established objectives and targets, utilizing protective equipment, devices, measures, and procedures as required by state and federal regulations. Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety, and ensure safety talks, safety meetings, and required training occur as defined; Design and develop mechanisms including track, height adjusters recliners for automotive seat frames; design and develop cables for multiple applications including latch, track and recliners and release cables. Perform other duties as assigned. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Production Management or Mechanical Production Engineering and 60 months of related experience as a Senior Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, Product Engineer or Process Analyst. Of the 60 months of experience, 36 months of experience must include designing and developing mechanisms including track, height adjusters recliners for automotive seat frames; designing and developing cables for multiple applications including latch, track and recliners and release cables. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; M-F, $125,362.00 per year.
