Why Standard Fleet?

Standard Fleet is building the next generation of Fleet Management software. With Standard Fleet, electric vehicles are first-class citizens and fleet operators no longer need to install cumbersome "dongles" in their vehicles to track or manage their vehicles. Our mission is to accelerate the commercial adoption of electric vehicles by setting a new standard in fleet management.

Every member of the Standard Fleet team is fueled by an unwavering passion for the transportation and electrification and is deeply committed to making our products better. We come from companies like Apple, Uber, Tesla, Stripe, Robinhood, Yelp, and Embark. In 2024 our revenue grew by nearly 6X.

Standard Fleet is well-funded and backed by some of Silicon Valley’s top investors. Some of our founding team members, including our CEO David Hodge, founded Embark. At Embark, the team built a popular transportation app used by millions, which the team ultimately sold to Apple.

We're seeking a DevOps engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure that powers our fleet management platform. You'll be an early hire, responsible for ensuring our systems scale reliably as we empower thousands of businesses to switch to electric vehicles. This is a rare opportunity to establish DevOps best practices from the ground up and make a meaningful impact on the future of a rapidly evolving market with enormous growth potential.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on GCP to support our growing fleet management platform.

  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable deployments across our microservices architecture.

  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using infrastructure-as-code principles.

  • Partner with engineering teams to improve developer productivity through tooling and automation.

  • Lead incident response efforts and conduct post-mortems to continuously improve system reliability.

  • Establish security best practices and ensure compliance across our infrastructure.

  • Optimize costs and resource utilization while maintaining high availability for fleet operations that run 24/7.

Qualifications

We don’t believe in qualification checkboxes for candidates. These often cause great candidates to think they’re not qualified. If you think you can help us scale our business, let’s talk and see if we’re a fit.

You might be a good fit if…
  • You have a passion for electric vehicles and the future of transportation.

  • You have high standards and a strong work ethic - you always bring your best and expect your colleagues to do the same.

  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering practical solutions.

  • You have a customer-first mindset and an interest in talking with customers to make sure we’re building a polished product that meets their needs.

  • You’re a self-starter who takes initiative and drives projects to completion.

  • You’re excited about working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.

  • You’re a team player, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed team.
