Director of Product Management – Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU)

As a Director of Product Management, HBM in the Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU), you will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for Micron's High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) product portfolio. You will lead and manage a team of product managers and cross-functional representatives from engineering, marketing, and operations to develop the roadmap, optimize the business case of each product, and drive products through each stage of Micron’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process. You will oversee the development activities of new products by specifying the requirements, setting priorities, and handling trade-off decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Ensure alignment and effective communication across all functional teams.

  • Strategic Roadmap Development: Collaborate with key team members to develop and establish the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the HBM product line. Drive the product strategy across functional organizations to achieve program objectives.

  • Product Lifecycle Management: Own and lead the full lifecycle of the HBM product portfolio from definition to execution to end of life. Ensure timely preparation and presentation of all stage gates and key product decisions.

  • Market and Technology Insight: Maintain an excellent understanding of customer needs, market requirements, and technology trends including memory tiering and stack optimization (CPU, GPU, HBM, GDDR, DDR4/5/6, 3DXP, SSD, HDD, CXL) to enable the development of the product portfolio.

  • Business Case Optimization: Develop and continuously optimize the business case for each product in your portfolio, including unit cost, capex, revenue, R&D, opportunity cost, and return on investment analysis.

  • Customer and Partner Engagement: Direct and indirect interface with customers to define product features, priorities, schedule, and other requirements. Collaborate with key external development partners and suppliers.

  • Ecosystem Partnership Development: Actively build and maintain partnerships with key ecosystem players to enhance our AI solutions. Collaborate with partners to develop comprehensive solutions that deliver value to customers and distinguish our offerings in the market.

  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor and work towards a comprehensive understanding of competitor products and strategies.

  • Product Development Oversight: Lead the full product development process by acting as the key CMBU interface that provides product guidance to engineering, program management, operations, and manufacturing groups.

  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead the key activities required to launch new products into the market.

  • Resource Management: Oversight of personnel resources, manufacturing, and development plans.

  • Corporate Process Improvement: Participate in the product management community by contributing to corporate process improvement and act as secondary/back-up product manager for assigned products.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams across multiple sites. Excellent communication skills and presentation abilities with extensive customer-facing experience.

  • Strategic Insight: Demonstrated business insight and the ability to complete complex technical projects. Consistent track record of strategy development.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. MBA or Master’s Degree in engineering is preferred.

  • Travel: Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

Minimum Qualification:

  • 10+ years of product management or product development experience with significant expertise in both technical and business topics in a semiconductor or computing systems company.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$163,000.00 - $338,500.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
