Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic US Tax Strategies and Structuring Director to join our xScale tax team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all tax aspects related to xScale JV mergers and acquisitions activity, tax structuring, and monetization matters. This role requires a deep understanding of US tax laws and regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic tax planning advice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all tax aspects related to xScale’s US and foreign M&A activity, including joint venture formation, acquisitions, reorganizations, real estate transactions, refinancing, investor exit and other special projects

  • Work closely with tax advisors to develop and implement tax-efficient structures

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including corporate development, business operations, legal, and finance to ensure tax considerations are integrated into xScale business strategies

  • Identify tax planning strategies that facilitate growth and improve tax efficiency

  • Oversee tax risk assessment, management and mitigation

  • Provide expert tax advice on US tax matters, including partnership and REIT tax matters

  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on the potential impact of these changes

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with xScale JV partners on all JV tax matters

  • Collaborate with the xScale indirect tax team to ensure indirect tax matters are taken into consideration

  • Coordinate with the xScale direct tax compliance team to ensure accurate tax accounting and compliance

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external advisors and tax authorities

  • Provide guidance and support to junior tax professionals and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or JD preferred

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in US tax, with a focus on M&A, structuring, and partnership matters

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations

  • Proven track record of managing complex tax projects and transactions

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to practical situations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the capacity to mentor and develop junior tax professionals

  • Experience working with third-party advisors, such as tax consultants and auditors, and managing relationships with external stakeholders

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

  • San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $198,000 to $298,000 per year

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
