Job Description:

KEV Group is looking for a Director, Tax to join our Finance team.  Reporting into the CFO, this individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and planning. The Director of Tax will play a key role in ensuring the company’s tax obligations are met while optimizing tax strategies to support business objectives. This position requires a deep understanding of Canadian and U.S. tax laws, regulations, and best practices and the ability to be agile in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and filing of all federal, state/provincial tax corporate and indirect tax returns to ensure timely compliance with tax laws and regulations
  • Review quarterly and annual tax provisions and manage the company’s effective tax rate
  • Ensure proper registration of corporate entities in the various provinces/states that the company operates
  • Coordinate with external auditors on tax-related matters and ensure the accuracy of financial statements regarding tax
  • Identify and manage tax-saving opportunities, including transfer pricing, tax credits, and incentives
  • Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate action to mitigate potential liabilities
  • Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations across all jurisdictions in which the company operates
  • Coordinate tax audits and resolve any issues with tax authorities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure tax efficiency across business functions
  • Act as a key liaison with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and government authorities
  • Provide advice and guidance on tax implications for business strategies, contracts, and transactions

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent tax certification required; advanced degree in tax or law (LL.M. in Taxation) preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible tax experience within a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
  • Experience with both Canadian and U.S. tax matters, including cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and tax compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex tax issues
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to tax issues
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, changing environment and handle ambiguity
  • Treasury experience – nice to have
