We’re looking for an Expert Level Designer to join the Angry Birds Friends (ABF) team. Angry Birds Friends is one of Rovio’s longest-running live titles, enjoyed by millions of players every week. Our vision is to keep innovating within the puzzle category by crafting levels and experiences that challenge, surprise, and delight.

As Expert Level Designer, you will head up a team of level designers, shaping the level design strategy and ensuring we deliver top-quality content week after week. You’ll combine creative design expertise with a strong data-driven mindset, collaborating closely with design, production, product, and analytics to ensure our levels keep players coming back for more.

This role can be based in Espoo, Finland, or Barcelona, Spain. We follow a hybrid work model with two on-site days per week. If you’re not currently located in either of these cities, we offer relocation support.

You will have impact and fun at work by doing:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of talented level designers, setting the strategy and vision for level design.
  • Driving the creation and curation of engaging levels and new mechanics, both hands-on and through your team.
  • Ensuring weekly level output meets quality and business goals.
  • Using data and KPIs to analyse level performance and continuously improve the player experience.
  • Collaborating with Design Directors, Producers, PMs, and Analysts to plan, prioritise, and execute on level-related initiatives.
  • Advising LiveOps on A/B tests and adapting content for live events.
  • Creating a cohesive player experience across the level funnel, from onboarding to long-term engagement.
  • Providing feedback, coaching, and growth opportunities to your team to keep them motivated and aligned.
  • Acting as a strong advocate for level design across the ABF team.

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • Solid commercial experience in mobile F2P games, especially in building and maintaining levels for a live game.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring other designers and driving a team towards results.
  • Background working with both live games and games in development is a plus.
  • Ability to use data and KPIs to guide level design decisions and improve performance.
  • Strong skills in designing and executing level design philosophies and processes.
  • Hands-on experience creating level content, with a keen eye for detail and balance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functions.
  • A critical thinker and creative problem solver who can align a team around a common vision.

It would be nice if you also have:

  • Familiarity with game, UX, economy, systems, or narrative design.
  • Solid working knowledge of Unity.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to share learnings across Rovio.

We welcome applicants to use the name they want to be addressed by in the application form, regardless of whether it is their legal name.

At Rovio, we are also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities or conditions in our working environment and job application procedures. We are committed to continuously improving workplace accessibility. If you have any questions before applying, please write to us at [email protected].
