  • Mechanical design - Produce requirements-driven Computer Aided Design (CAD) model solutions to be productized for naval environments
  • Physical analysis - Optimize structural design margins with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to ensure solutions are suitable for use
  • Thermal design - Optimize mechanical designs considering thermal constraints for cabinet rack-mounted equipment
  • Radio Frequency (RF) design - Design systems considering conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility
  • Test planning - based on requirements develop verification plans to evaluate lifecycle performance of equipment/systems
  • Peer reviewing - Ensure work products effectively meet requirements, conform to standards and eliminate defects earlier
  • Requirements reviews- Conduct reviews of internal customer/stakeholder requirements ensuring they are objective and have a clearly defined achievement metric
  • Design specification authoring - Complete specifications detailing design rationale employed to effectively meet requirements
  • Risk analysis - Assess risks/opportunities that may be realized during the development lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences from an accredited college or university or its equivalent and usually a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience or a Master's degree and three (3) years’ experience or in an entry level position with a PhD in a technical or scientific field.
Desired Skills

Responsibilities:

  • Customer focus: Able to distinguish between the needs of internal customers and external customers to deliver on requirements.  Seek clarity and flow down of priorities against timelines. Identifies risk, likelihood and impacts to progress.  Socialize/create mitigation strategies
  • Operational Excellence:  Lead design reviews and documents comments to ensure production stakeholders/customers are provided with concise documentation on product designs including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) evaluations
  • Continuous Improvement:  Test opportunities to improve product development processes. Socialize improvement initiative for stakeholder feedback
  • Measuring/Tracking Progress: Mentor junior staff on estimating and is accountable for estimates of work progress tracking.  May include Control Account Manager (CAM) role on projects
  • Adaptive Leadership: Reacts to change by seeking, analyzing, testing and implementing solution alternatives collected by active team participation.  Build individual and collective team credibility with a rigorous, qualitative and consistent delivery of output.  Leadership style is consistently transactional but will take a broader business perspective when making decisions.
