Designs, tests, integrates, and debugs computing hardware and electrical components for naval systems. Authors MIL-STD-461G and MIL-STD-810 qualification plans and procedures, troubleshoots EMI and mechanical or thermal failures, develops test fixtures and automated test environments, evaluates vendors, analyzes test data, and coordinates technical documentation. Requires system integration experience, formal technical writing, hardware debugging, test equipment proficiency, and scripting skills for automated data collection.
Standard Job Description
Conducts or participates in the research, design, development, and testing of COTS or custom computing hardware and/or otherelectrical components. Develops designs for the installation of components and assembliesinto chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, customer facilities, and/or shelters. Plans, directs, reviews and coordinates preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements are met. Prepares specifications, evaluates vendors, and analyzes test reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Plan & Procedure Authoring: Lead the creation of formal Test Plans and Test Procedures. You will be responsible for interpreting MIL-STD-461G and MIL-STD-810 requirements and tailoring them into actionable, step-by-step test steps.
- Hardware Debugging & Root Cause Analysis: Act as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting failures during functional and qualification testing. You will utilize spectrum analyzers and probes to identify EMI issues (461G) and analyze mechanical/thermal failures (810) at the both the component and system level.
- Functional Test Architecture: Design and build custom test fixtures, breakout boxes, and automated test environments (ATE) to validate complex naval system requirements before they hit the qualification lab.
Basic Qualifications
- Technical Writing: Proven experience writing formal qualification procedures that have successfully passed government or prime-contractor review.
- Debugging: Strong background in debugging and troubleshooting
- Standards Mastery: Good understanding of the specific test setups for MIL-STD-461G (all methods) and MIL-STD-810 (Climatic & Dynamic).
