Job Responsibilities:
As Dortec continues its digital transformation, the Industry 4.0 Developer will play a key role in implementing Dortec's Digital Roadmap and leveraging solutions from the Magna Digital Marketplace. With a mature suite of data, you will be integral to transitioning our data to a Unified Namespace. You will collaborate with Dortec's DevOps, IT, and Controls teams to create user-friendly and impactful business systems that meet our operational objectives and Industry 4.0 needs.
Training will be provided in our current development tools and standards, as well as a general working knowledge of our ERP and MES systems. Dortec operates in a Power Platform and WebApp development environment, primarily using tools such as Blazor.NET, Power BI, SQL, and PowerApps suites. Preferred experience includes MQTT 3/5, OPC, Kepware, and Python. Experience with SCADA-level tools such as Ignition and/or Node-RED is a plus.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations for new IT software projects and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business process efficiency.
  • Coordinate application development for multiple projects.
  • Provide programming for all in-house Industry 4.0 projects involving ERP, MES, and Robotics.
  • Maintain source code in the Magna-provided Enterprise GitHub and Jira environments.
  • Troubleshoot software application issues and MQTT adaptor issues, including payloads.
  • Manage outsourcing relationships for third-party application development and programming consultants.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement necessary modifications in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
  • Analyze current business processes and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure data integrity and address data integrity issues in existing and proposed systems.
  • Advise business users on the effective use of applications and information technology.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for applications, including operations and user guides.
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications.
  • Verify database and data integrity.
  • Assist in creating system design and functional specifications for new development projects.
  • Stay current with changing business and technology requirements.
  • Travel between Dortec locations as needed, with hours split between both facilities.
  • Provide off-shift and on-call support as required.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage workplace safety.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Completion of a community college diploma/certificate.
  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of related experience and education.
  • Extensive knowledge of data processing and hardware platforms, with ideal experience in enterprise software applications.
  • Technical experience in systems networking, databases, web development, and user support.
  • Required programming languages and technologies: .NET / Python, MSSQL Server / SSRS / Power Platform (Power Apps, Dataverse, Power BI), Node.js / jQuery / JSON
  • Good working knowledge skills with Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities;
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high-pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • A results oriented individual who thrives working in a fast-paced environment.
