We’re seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to set the technical direction for our CoCounsel for Government team. In this role, you’ll design secure, scalable cloud infrastructures, guide a team of DevOps professionals, and help ensure our solutions meet strict government compliance standards. If you thrive on solving complex cloud and deployment challenges while mentoring others, this role is for you.
About the role

-
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to align DevOps priorities and practices with product and business objectives.
Hands-On Development & Operations
-
Write and review production-grade Python code for automation, tooling, and back-end services, applying best practices and an appreciation for static typing.
-
Oversee CI/CD pipelines, ensuring security checks, compliance, and reliable deployments in AWS GovCloud or other AWS environments.
Mentorship & Leadership
-
Guide senior and mid-level engineers, offering code reviews and technical coaching to foster growth in both development and operational excellence.
-
Champion DevOps methodologies within the team, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving.
Security & Compliance
-
Work closely with InfoSec to integrate FedRAMP, FIPS, and other government compliance requirements into infrastructure and deployment processes.
-
Monitor and address vulnerabilities, ensuring systems remain hardened and secure.
Performance & Scalability
-
Identify and implement improvements for system reliability, performance, and observability across multiple services and environments.
-
Track key metrics to optimize resource usage and facilitate future scaling decisions.
About You
Experience
-
6+ years in DevOps, site reliability, or a closely related field, with a proven track record in leading complex cloud and container-based projects.
-
Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentor less-experienced engineers.
Technical Expertise
-
Proficient in AWS (including GovCloud) for designing and managing large-scale deployments; deep experience with CloudFormation.
-
Strong Python development skills, specifically for production services or infrastructure tooling. Familiarity with typed Python or static typing principles is a plus.

Security & Compliance
-
Comfortable weaving FedRAMP and FIPS requirements into everyday DevOps workflows.
-
Experience proactively managing vulnerabilities and instituting security best practices.
