The role:
As Project Manager, Urban Planning, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating urban planning projects that support sustainable and well-designed communities. This role will center on overseeing planning initiatives, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring projects align with land use policies, zoning regulations, and long-term growth strategies. You’ll work closely with internal teams, government partners, and external consultants to guide projects from concept to completion.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate and monitor the execution of campus planning projects, ensuring alignment with program objectives, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables for planning initiatives such as land use studies, space utilization strategies, and infrastructure development plans.
- Track and report on project progress, risks, and resourcing needs, escalating issues as needed to senior project managers or campus leadership.
- Facilitate communication across departments and stakeholder groups, coordinating input from relevant teams to inform project outcomes.
- Prepare briefing notes, progress updates, and presentation materials for project sponsors, governance committees, and campus leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, workshops, and consultations with municipal authorities, community groups, and internal partners.
What you’ll bring:
- A degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in urban or regional planning
- Previous experience supporting or managing public sector planning or development projects.
- Strong understanding of zoning regulations, official/community plans, and planning legislation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in planning tools and software (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite) is an asset.
- Existing Secret level Government of Canada security clearance
