The BSP Test Team at QNX is seeking talented individuals with a mind for details and passion for quality. The tester will directly contribute to all aspects of testing include, writing automation code, designing test suites, writing and executing tests as well as running, maintaining and developing automated test cases.  The role requires working with hardware and accessing test labs, and not suitable for remote work.  The candidate will participate in all verification related activities related to releasing QNX BSP and driver updates to customers.  The ideal candidate is an intelligent enthusiastic individual with proven experience in testing and test automation development.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and optimizing automated test cases with continuous improvements in coverage and efficiency
  • Develop new test automation code based on requirements.
  • Debugging, analyzing test results, generating and updating defect reports, verifying resolved issues.
  • Producing test reports based on test results with high attention to details.
  • Run a series of tests against new software loads on reference or customer hardware and analyzes the results.
  • Automation lab maintenance and add new hardware to the automation test bed.
  • Create, update and maintain test plans, test cases based on requirements.
  • Hands-on configuration, integration and testing of software deliverables on reference hardware.
  • Collaboration with other test and development teams.
  • Recreation of observed issues through a variety of techniques for root cause analysis.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Solid test automation development experience.
  • Excellent programming experience for python, C and shell scripting.
  • Hands on experience using Linux.
  • Demonstrated experience writing test plans and test cases, executing tests and reporting results.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality software within timelines.
  • Familiar with source versioning, problem reporting and constant integration systems (SVN, Git, JIRA, Jenkins).
  • Working knowledge of QNX or other embedded operating system is an asset.
  • Able to write clear and concise problem reports.
  • Creative debugging techniques and persistent in finding solutions.
  • Familiarity with various processor architectures (Eg: Intel and ARM).
  • Ability to work and participate in a team setting with an open, collaborative communication style.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of formal test theory, test methodology, and experience in developing automated tests and testing tools.
  • Enthusiasm, a passion for quality and a desire to learn about new technologies is a requirement!
