Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

We are looking for a Residential Risk Consultant to join our Intact Prestige team. This position can be located in our Toronto, Ajax or Ottawa office. This is a 15-Month Secondment or Contract Opportunity)

As a Residential Risk Consultant, your work will have a big impact on our customers as you service the Ontario region. As a valued member of the team, you will be a brand champion for the Intact Prestige team, conduct risk assessment appraisals on new business and prospect business to determine accurate replacement costs, risk acceptability, and identify loss potential. You will make recommendations and come up with solutions tailored to the specific risk and circumstance.
What you’ll do here :

  • Deliver effortless customer experience.

  • Collaborate with various individuals (broker, customers and various internal departments).

  • Develop relationships with local contractors and conduct interviews to determine factors and trends driving change in construction costs for labour, materials and building components within the region.

  • Identify and evaluate finishes and features of high valued residential property.

  • Physically inspect, measure and photograph structures to update assessment.

  • Keep current on construction industry forecasts, building costs, building codes, territory trends and unacceptable risk characteristics.

  • Provide recommendations and solutions tailored to the specific risk, exposures and characteristics inherent to the territory including product advantages to customers during the appraisal process.

  • Advise various stakeholders on loss prevention and mitigation solutions.

  • Assist underwriters in acquiring new business and account retention for the profitability of the business unit. Identify possible coverage gaps and communicate them to Underwriting.

What you bring to the table :

  • Minimum 3 years of property appraisal in replacement cost and loss prevention experience.

  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

  • Proven organizational/time management skills.

  • Strong ability to identify different types and styles of construction, fire protection and unique features found in residential homes.

  • Ability to read and understand architectural and builder plans is preferred.

  • Work within monthly deadlines within a demanding travel schedule, servicing a large territory.

  • Frequent travel within Ontario, including overnight trips.

  • Flexible. autonomous working hours (35 hours a week).

  • Familiar with architectural drawing software is an asset.

  • CIP and CRM designation preferred.

  • Must possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
