We have a current vacancy for a Senior Data Coordinator to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Senior Data Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the collection, validation, and organization of large and complex datasets to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security. Serving as a key liaison between business units, IT teams, and data stakeholders, the Senior Data Coordinator leads efforts to improve data management processes, monitors adherence to data governance policies, and resolves data-related issues efficiently. Additionally, this role mentors’ junior staff, implements best practices for data entry and maintenance, and supports the development of documentation and training related to data management.
The Senior Data Coordinator is instrumental in supporting strategic initiatives through effective data coordination and continuous process improvement.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Lead and oversee data collection, validation, maintenance, and storage activities in multiple data management systems and repositories (e.g., SFTP, SharePoint, IPESA).
Develop, implement, and evaluate data governance frameworks, quality assurance protocols, and data security practices.
Collaborate with business units, technical teams, and external partners to translate organizational objectives into practical data workflows and solutions.
Design and execute advanced data quality audits, root-cause analyses, data cleansing, and standardization initiatives.
Manage data migration, integration, and transformation projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements and system capabilities.
Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on data management policies, procedures, and best practices; lead training, mentoring, and onboarding for team members and stakeholders.
Direct the creation, documentation, and maintenance of comprehensive data guidelines and user manuals.
Monitor data system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with IT for timely resolution.
Generate and interpret complex reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support strategic decision-making.
Develop roadmaps for data process improvement, actively recommend and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant data governance, privacy, and information security regulations.
Represent the data management function in cross-departmental meetings, external audits, and process improvement initiatives.
Lead and participate in special projects, providing expert input and direction on data-related matters to maximize efficiency and data value.
Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and advancements in data coordination, security, and analytics, applying new knowledge to continually improve team practices.
Minimum Qualifications
5-10 years’ experience in data coordination, data management, or a similar role
Diploma in Data Management, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work accurately and with excellent attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within an Engineering or Defense Environment
The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) $78,960.15 - $135,870.20 CAD Annual.
This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
