Job Summary:
We are looking for an individual who has a strong passion for technical accounting, internal controls and understanding the economic and business impacts of sophisticated business transactions. Reporting to the Director, External Reporting, Internal Controls and Compliance, and working closely with others in Finance and our cross-functional partners, you will use your experience in technical accounting and internal controls to develop accounting position papers, prepare our quarterly external reporting, help lead and prepare our statutory audit requirements, and maintain an effective reporting and control environment for D2L’s operations. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment supporting the company’s global operations, and continued growth and expansion. You will remain up-to-date on recent developments from IFRS and Annual Reporting and Continuous Disclosure obligations. This position requires an individual who can work well both independently and within a team, as well as possess exceptional communication (written/oral), attention to detail and organizational skills.
How You Will Make an Impact?
- Quarterly and annual financial statement preparation for various stakeholders
- Preparation of quarterly and annual MD&A and related Board materials
- Research and analyze technical accounting matters for key business initiatives and develop related accounting policies
- As complex accounting transactions arise (M&A and business combinations, etc.), research and prepare technical memos and work with external auditors to ensure the transactions are signed off in a timely manner
- Perform corporate contract reviews for accounting recognition considerations
- Support the annual financial statement audit, annual statutory audits and quarterly reviews, working closely with various external stakeholders
- Support key stakeholders across the organization on internal controls best practices
- Assist with designing and implementing internal controls as well as maintenance of the internal control environment
- Deep understanding of business processes and ability to propose and implement improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness in business operations and financial reporting best practices
- Assist with period end close procedures as required
- Collaborate across finance and other departments on special projects as required

Work Experience:
- Relevant financial reporting and audit experience at a public accounting firm
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with IFRS
- Experience with complex accounting and preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including full note disclosures
- Experience in software or technology sector is a strong asset
- Experience with financial reporting for global companies is a strong asset
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite and NetSuite ERP system is a strong asset
Education Recommendations:
- Completion of CPA professional designation, or completion of professional exams and nearing completion of practical experience requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business and finance/accounting
The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.
Base Salary Range
$85,000—$95,000 CAD
