Salary range (but not limited to):

47,100 - 57,500

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

We're looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team.

Location: Toronto, Mississauga, Ajax, Ottawa or London, ON

This role is a full-time hybrid position that requires a minimum of 2 days per week working in the office.

What you'll do here:

  • Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations.

  • Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.

  • Assist Underwriters with the administration of complex policies.

  • Apply underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.

  • Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies.

  • Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.

  • Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.

  • Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant insurance experience

  • Knowledge of Commercial Lines Property and Casualty insurance is an asset

  • Strong typing skills to process daily work

  • Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools

  • Team player

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
