Role Overview

As a paralegal, you will support the dynamic Canadian legal team, which operates as part of a larger legal department based in France. You will have autonomy over administrative functions critical to the legal team's success, such as document management, maintaining organizational systems, and tracking key deadlines in a vibrant environment. Alongside these responsibilities, you will also support legal tasks, including research, contract analysis, and assisting with compliance efforts on a variety of legal topics.

Responsibilities

  • Contract Management: Support the management of our contract database, ensuring accurate updates and reviewing contracts to identify key considerations. Assist with contract data migration efforts, ensuring the seamless transfer and organization of contracts.
  • Privacy Compliance Support: Maintain and organize records relating to data privacy compliance, including tracking requests and ensuring deadlines for privacy-related filings are met.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Support the legal team by performing research and analysis, focusing on the ever-evolving tech landscape.
  • Project Management and Legal Compliance: Provide administrative and project management support for compliance initiatives, including tracking progress, organizing materials, and ensuring alignment with relevant laws. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication within the legal team, ensuring regular updates on project statuses and deadlines. Promote a collaborative environment, actively engaging with team members and adapting to feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Background: A degree or certification in paralegal studies, with a solid understanding of foundational legal principles.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of paralegal experience, ideally within a tech company or a fast-paced environment. Exposure to data privacy and compliance matters is a bonus but not mandatory.
  • Analytical and Research Skills: This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage priorities effectively in an autonomous matter, and a proactive approach to both administrative and legal work. The candidate must have the ability to review and analyze legal documents, interpret laws, and conduct precise and thorough research.
  • Knowledge of Relevant Laws: Strong familiarity with contract law and employment law.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated commitment to maintaining accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency in all work.
  • Language: Proficiency in both French and English (spoken and written) is required to communicate effectively with our international colleagues and clients, as well as due to the nature of our operations.

What’s in it for you

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on impactful projects.
  • An opportunity to expand your legal and compliance expertise while gaining hands-on experience in the ever-evolving ad tech industry.
  • Enjoy autonomy in your role while contributing to meaningful initiatives.
  • A vibrant and fun culture in Montréal’s Mile End, with plenty of creativity, collaboration, and a good sense of humor to go around.
