About This Opportunity

This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead the revenue recognition process, support billing and collaborate cross-functionally to refine and optimize our systems, process’ and controls. We are seeking  an individual with strong technical revenue recognition/accounting experience in both a license and subscription based software company, including “on premise”.
This role will report to the Corporate Controller.
This is a remote role open to candidates in Ottawa and Toronto, Ontario; with occasional travel to our headquarters in Mountain View, California.

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process, including ensuring revenue recognition adherence under ASC 606.
  • Partner with sales operations and the general accounting team to manage invoicing and deferred revenue.
  • Lead month-end close activities including revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support and implement system, process, and control improvements in revenue, billing and accounts receivable functions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Operations to evaluate contracts and revenue implications.
  • Maintain audit readiness through solid technical accounting and documentation and internal controls.
  • Leverage systems including NetSuite ARM and Salesforce to continue to streamline the automation and improve revenue processes.
  • Support technical accounting for commissions under ASC 340.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5-10 years of revenue accounting experience, in a software company with license and subscription revenue (“on premise”).
  • Proven experience with ASC 606, ASC 340 and revenue recognition under US GAAP.
  • Public accounting (Big 4 or similar) preferred.
  • Experience with customer invoicing and deferred revenue.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, G-Suite, Salesforce, and Netsuite.
  • A highly productive self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and multi-task efficiently.
