Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting, is a key team member in the Company’s Corporate Finance Team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Accounting, you will assist in establishing the financial standards for the Company and work cross functionally to ensure accounting policies are implemented operationally. This includes definition of accounting policies, establishment of efficient and accurate compliance and reporting processes and implementation of internal controls to ensure the highest standard of financial reporting. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of both internal and external financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards. You will also assist in assessing, managing, and enhancing internal controls across key business processes to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness. In addition, this role will also oversee investor relations and capitalization table management. This role will have a strong focus on complex accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role will also play a supporting role in maintaining and evolving the Company’s strategic initiatives and capital structure.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Research and lead the establishing of accounting policies, including assessment of complex accounting issues and creating technical accounting memos.
  • Lead the preparation and review of financial statements and compliance reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual results, ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and external regulatory requirements for stakeholders including investors, creditors, and government entities.
  • Lead and liaise with external auditors to support audit working papers and memos, including responsibility for key risk areas.
  • Provide support on corporate development activities that may be undertaken, including due diligence, transaction tax planning, accounting treatment and post close integration activities.
  • Partner with Controllership and FP&A teams to ensure efficient processes to support defined accounting policies and the Company’s projected growth. 
  • Management and implementation of internal controls across key business processes, with a focus on financial reporting, to move towards being SOX-compliant. 
  • Design and implement internal audit processes and procedures.
  • Oversee capitalization table management and investor relations.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Global Accounting and VP, Finance to support long-term strategies of the Company.
  • Build a reputation cross functionally as a trusted advisor and team player.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of financial reporting and audit experience at a public accounting firm or in industry, preferably in a scale-up environment, with leadership experience.
  • Experience with IPO an asset.
  • CPA Designation required.
  • Strong technical proficiency in ASPE and IFRS, with US GAAP knowledge an asset. 
  • Experience with consolidation of multiple entities in different currencies. 
  • Experience with internal controls compliance.
  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement and take ownership of driving these to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, enabling the management of multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong sense of accountability, consistently delivering on objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships both within the business and with external stakeholders.
  • Track record of operating in a fast paced, scale up environment and working cross functionally.
  • Ability to provide mentorship to staff within the finance team and cross functionally.
